Sankyo's GW series X and Y stroke
linear handler is designed to be driven with a rear
mounted spur gear. A rounded housing configuration permits
multiple units placed around a drive gear in close proximity.
One full cycle (home-pick-place-home) is done with one
input shaft revolution to easily synchronize with other
equipment and share a common drive. Stand-alone units
can be shaft driven with gearmotors or belts from the
top or bottom of the housing. Each unit can apply forces
in both directions within ±0.02 mm (±0.0008")
positioning accuracy. Rigid cast iron housings support
dual linear slides to reduce vibration and inertia.
Our units dissipate vibration by using large mass internal
components and rounding the X-Y stroke transition to
enhance the overall life span. Inverted-U motions are
commonly used for pick & place applications, but
L-shaped, double pickup and inverted-T motions are available
without extra cost.
The cam motions incorporate dwell periods for gripper response time while rotating the input shaft continuously. As a stand-alone option, multiple photo eye timing sensors use adjustable cam/flags to safety interlock or check if the part is in place to avoid crashing the tooling. An optional linear torque limiter mounts between the handler arm and tooling to retract the tooling. Torque thresholds are easily adjusted without any disassembly and a photo eye sensor detects overloads.
